Infinite Ryvius Sere 25-26 In Order to Stay as Myself and Tomorrow (FINAL EPISODES)

I’m quite excited to announce that I’ve finally come to watch and review the final two episodes of Infinite Ryvius. It’s been quite a ride, and truth be told, after episode 12, things really started picking up the pace for me. In the aftermath, I will say that I enjoyed IR, worth the ride and I can definitely cite it as one of my new favorites, especially in terms of a series that works in the psychological/drama/perhaps even mecha genre, though it doesn’t focus on the latter as much.

In the final two episodes, we find that the main characters have a much needed reunion, and we find that all in all, it’s a much needed one. Without going into too much detail, I think it can be said that the ending is quite satisfying in most modes.

I think overall, episode 25 really is the best episode of the series, and really ties all of the events into a rather building climax.

WARNING: no pictures and no divisions in this entry in terms of under the cut…it’s an overall summary of events in these two episodes, and reflections overall on the series. Be forewarned and don’t read this until you’ve seen both episodes.

Reflections under the cut and the picture of the overall cast.

Infinite Ryvius Sere 23-24: Torn Past and “Kouji Aiba”

I don’t think anything in the series up to this point could have 100% prepared me for the events in these two episodes. Funny thing is I shed a few tears in episode 21, but what happened in episode 23 was more or less “I can’t believe that just happened” and I had a few tears coming out from this scene as well. It was enough for me to take a break before watching the last two episodes of the series, thus I’m a bit delayed in blogging this as well as Code Geass (that, and I had a more hectic schedule on Thursday and Friday than I would have liked. So a lot of what I wanted to blog in terms of anime will have to be pushed back, unfortunately.)

Reflections under the cut. Let’s say that the OP sequence somewhat reflects what happens in the next few episodes.

Infinite Ryvius Sere 21-22: We Don’t Need Tomorrow and In Order to Survive

6 episodes left in the series…and I think I’m more convinced of how this series links with William Golding’s “Lord of the Flies”. It’s indirect, but certainly of note.

Juli finds herself caught between events in the latest crisis, while Ikumi’s frantic and doesn’t see many options available. Kouji is completely floored by the turn of events–one might say what else is new, but I have to really give it to him in these episodes, he steps up the plate quite a bit. Faina’s…well….I’d rather not say as my comments on her are huge spoilers, but lets just say the way I feel about her now is coming along the same lines as Ikumi. Though admittingly, I never cared for Faina as much as I liked some of the other girls in the series.

I did shed a few tears for the end of episode 21, that’s one thing I’ll admit right off the bat, maybe somewhat in reflective guilt. Something about the way that episode was presented at the end connected with me, maybe not jarring, and maybe not 100% heartbreaking, but it’s pretty potent in terms of presentation and on the part of VA work. Impressed I am. :)

Reflections under the cut. Don’t say I didn’t warn you, watch this episode and then read my comments…there’s unedited spoilers to be had in these episodes, and if you haven’t seen them, you will be spoiled…mercilessly.

Infinite Ryvius Sere 19-20: Smiling With You and Something I Can’t Let Go

Pending the events of the last episode, it was hard to swallow what happened in the aftermath to one of the characters, particularly one that I’ve followed through most of the series with liking to a certain degree. This coming episode presented her in a not so flattering light, as did some of the last episodes, yet I still feel sentiments towards what she endured.

Another problem: one of the characters who I thought had the most emotional strength in the beginning of the series just decides to completely crumble after this event.   Then again, even in the beginning of the series, one event pretty much foreshadowed this occuring. It doesn’t make it have any less impact though. :(   In some modes I don’t blame the character in question and understood the reasoning behind each decision, but…the actions that same character took were completely unethical and contraindicative.

That said, I love this series to tears, though it does make me want to tear up in places.

Reflections under the cut.  Be warned, I’m going to reveal the latter character’s name under this cut, so don’t read unless you’ve seen this episode in its entirety.

Infinite Ryvius Sere 17-18: Free Order and Incomprehensible

Episode 17 and 18 of Infinite Ryvius signify some of the strongest examples of internal vengence and unrest we’ve seen in the series thus far. It even hits closer to home considering some of the main characters we’ve followed to this point actually come right in the crosshairs of such actions. I think what we see in this part of the series is not only blatant prejudice, but also the crumbling of an idealistic utopia.

Not only that, I think the Ryvius crew is finally starting to realize that their ship isn’t infallible to every force it encounters. The approaching force seems to signify that even further.

Reflections under the cut.
